Meet Chef Devin

Chef. Pastry chef. Chocolatier. Teacher. And the person who will actually be cooking your food.

Devin’s culinary journey began at Lincoln Culinary Institute in Maryland, where he earned his culinary degree before continuing his education at The Pastry Academy by Amaury Guichon, earning a certificate focused on the art and technique of pastry. The Academy’s intensive program encompasses everything from classic and contemporary pastry to plated desserts, chocolate, and confectionery.

He went on to cook professionally in Washington, D.C., including at Xiquet, while also developing a passion for teaching and sharing what he knows with others. Devin has taught cooking at Sur La Table locations throughout Northern Virginia and has brought that same combination of technique, creativity and enthusiasm to private clients and events.

Today, Devin’s favorite part of cooking is creating something unexpected that just works — combining flavors, textures and techniques in ways that turn great ingredients into something genuinely delicious. He has a particular love for pâtisserie and chocolate, from intricate desserts to the hundreds of handmade truffles he created as wedding favors for our own guests.

In January 2026, Devin and his wife, Jackie, founded Murphy Hospitality, bringing his professional experience into a more personal kind of culinary service: food designed around the people who are actually going to eat it.

Whether he’s preparing a week’s worth of family meals, developing a menu around a dietary need, creating a dessert for a celebration or teaching someone how to make fresh pasta, Devin believes the best cooking starts with listening.
